The Austrian Tutti Mozart Orchestra, renowned for its academic research on Mozart, discovered the long-lost concerto—mentioned in correspondence between Mozart and his mother—in a library in Switzerland, bringing the work to light after 239 years. Unperformed, unrecorded, and inaccessible for more than two centuries, the concerto will receive its world premiere in Türkiye under the sponsorship of Nef.
The much-anticipated performance will take place on 2 December during the opening concert of the 7th International Şefika Kutluer Festival, where internationally acclaimed flautist Şefika Kutluer, a State Artist of Türkiye and recipient of the Austrian Decoration of Honour for Science and Art, will perform the concerto. Held at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center, the concert will feature the Austrian Tutti Mozart Orchestra conducted by Vinicius Kattah. The same programme will be repeated on 4 December at Nazım Hikmet Concert Hall in Ankara.
Nef Sponsors the World Premiere
Having been the fastest-growing and highest-selling residential developer in Türkiye over the previous two years, Nef became the main sponsor of both the world premiere concert in Istanbul and the album featuring the historic composition.
The album, containing the first-ever recording of the concerto, was produced with Şefika Kutluer performing alongside the Tutti Mozart Orchestra under the baton of Vinicius Kattah, and was scheduled for international release in early 2017.
About the 7th International Şefika Kutluer Festival
Dedicated to showcasing both classical and traditional music from Eastern and Western cultures, the festival opened on 2 December at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center in Istanbul with Şefika Kutluer performing alongside the Austrian Tutti Mozart Orchestra conducted by Vinicius Kattah.
The same concert was presented again on 4 December at Nazım Hikmet Concert Hall in Ankara.
Among the festival’s highlights was the 12 December concert featuring celebrated French pianist and composer Stéphane Blet, often referred to as the “King of the Keyboard.” Together with Şefika Kutluer, he performed a programme ranging from classical music to jazz.
On 14 December, the Turkish Armed Forces Harmony Band Orchestra accompanied Şefika Kutluer in a special concert commemorating the 93rd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye and honouring Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades. Proceeds from the performance were donated to the Mehmetçik Foundation.
The festival continued on 19 December at Nazım Hikmet Cultural Centre in Ankara with a unique concert conducted by Peter Breiner, featuring the Bilkent String Orchestra. The programme included Breiner’s Baroque-inspired arrangements of iconic popular songs, including John Lennon’s “Imagine”, as well as classics by The Beatles and Elvis Presley.
The festival concluded on 20 December at the Zorlu PSM Drama Stage in Istanbul with the same closing programme.
